Charlotte Client Testimonials

Mitch,

Miranda and I were extremely impressed with the job you did for us. So much so, we felt compelled to write a review for you below. We can't thank you enough for all your hard work, and exceeding our expectations. Feel free to use us as references, as we'd be happy to give a glowing recommendation for you and your company anytime.

Sincerely,

Mark & Miranda Zoltanski

When my wife and I started thinking about remodeling and repairing some things in our home, we were unsure where or whom to turn to. Living at Lake Norman in Cornelius, we had some previous experience with general contractors based in Charlotte who just never seemed to get the job done, were in a rush, or estimates were too high because they weren't local. Sometimes the perception of Charlotte contractors is if you live at or near the lake, you must have money to throw away or they just need to charge more because they travel further. When we called Mitch Browning at Fineline Construction it was definitely a breath of fresh air. Mitch was the only company out of three who called us back the same day. One home improvement company never called back and the other called a week late. Mitch scheduled an appointment to meet with us the very next day for an estimate. After meeting with Mitch, it was obvious he was unlike other general contractors we had dealt with in the past. There was no pressure, no up-selling, just a laid back discussion about what we wanted to do. Not only did Mitch come in with a great estimate, but his ideas and workmanship exceeded our expectations. Our project came out fantastic, and Mitch and his crew did a great job. Ever since, we use Fineline Construction for all of our home remodeling projects and recommend him to our friends, family and clients. Owning a real estate firm, I am constantly asked by my clients who does the best work in the area. I can answer confidently without questio or reserve, and can put my reputation on the line, that Mitch at Fineline Construction delivers the best quality workmanship in the area, and I know he will get the job done exceeding customer expectations every time!

Mitchell, just want to thank you and your construction crew for making our house look spectacular. It is like a whole new house! Before you installed the custom arched shutters and fabulous window boxes, the house looked quite forlom. I was so surprised to find beautiful flowers already planted in the boxes!!!

I thought that outstanding workmanship and customer service were a thing of the past, but you came through with flying colors in both of these departments. I would highly recommend Fineline to anyone considering a home renovation project.

Lastly, just want to mention that your crew worked through very hot weather, but if something needed an adjustment, they were only too ready to make it happen. At the end of the day, they left our house clean from all debris/construction material.

Thank you, and your crew, for a job well done-----and within budget!

Sincerely,

Ann and Larry Ingold

During the past 10 years I have contracted with Mitchell Browning for numerous construction projects of varying scope and size. All projects have been completed in a timely manner, within budgetary guidelines, and with the highest degree of quality.

Projects have varied from a master bath addition at my Sharon Road residence to rebuilding a multilevel deck and terrace at my Lake Norman home. Additionally, he has performed carpentry functions including re-roof, siding replacement, window change-outs, and interior trim modifications.

I have a very high confidence level in his ability to properly assess the obvious as well as the latent construction condition such that the most desirable result can be achieved with the highest quality at the most cost effective price.

I am available to discuss any of the projects he has completed for me as well as attest to the integrity with which his work is executed.

Mitchell Browning and his crew at Fineline Construction are brilliant. We have a home in Southpark that we initially contemplated tearing down. Our neighborhood has succumbed to the destruction of '60s style houses yielding to more innovative and efficient home design. Mitchell came in and together we designed a balcony overlooking our great room. This room is now truly great and used to be a mere den. What once were 8 foot ceilings, through Mitchell's vision and capable creation, currently rival any castle Tuscany. With Jacobean stained beams hefted with Herculean strength by 3 crewmen and a ladder, the room looks ancient, welcoming and warm. Creating cozy ambience in a structure so grand is a feat in and of itself. We carried the great room into a keeping room and on through into the kitchen. The ceilings soar into the rafters balancing a turret they placed on the front of our house to add some character to our entrance.

The exterior and the interior of the home have undergone a major face lift and we attribute ample credit to the owner and crew of Fineline. They were as precise as cosmetic surpeons and as caring and respectful throughout the renovation. Because we occupied the home during construction, this was an added bonus. We may continue to revise and review our home in years to come as our needs develop and change., And, to be sure, Mitchell Browning and Fineline will be on our shorlist of contractors.

I found Fineline Construction on the Better Business Bureau website with an A+ rating and that's the kind of job that I got. The work that I needed done was kind of unusual. When I attempted to get estimates, other contractors wither said that they couldn't do the job, or gave me  a high price because of the unknowns, but not Fineline. Mitchell Browning came out promptly, listened to what I wanted and gave me a very good price. I'm a very "picky" person about doing a quality job and when I wasn't satisfied with anything, Mitchell did what he could to meet my expectations. In fact, when he completed the job and I mentioned that I was going to do some additional work, he offered to help me pick up some materials at no extra charge. If you want a responsive, high quality, low cost contractor, Fineline Construction is for you.

Summing up my experiences with Fineline Construction and owner Mitchell Browning, I am pleased to say that we got the results we were looking for done in a timely fashion for a fair price and felt that we were treated with respect and our home with care.  Mitch listened to us and provided good suggestions for changes to give us a family room we’d love.  Mitch stayed available to answer questions and address concerns throughout the whole project, generally returning calls the same day.

I was particularly impressed with the commitment shown to getting things done right.  Care was taken to protect my existing hardwood floors and molding.  Fineline brought their own crew in to provide superb carpentry upon which everything else depended.  To that Mitch added the expertise of specialist subcontractors with which Fineline has a long-standing relationship with and whom are held to high work quality and service standards, just as Fineline’s own employees are.  For our project a structural engineer was consulted, which was very reassuring as a structural misstep in vaulting our family room ceiling could have been disastrous.  Communication was frequent throughout the project, which helped to ensure that things got done right and in a timely fashion.

Even with the best practices in place minor mistakes and issues that need correcting are bound to happen and we did have a few of them.  What separates a great contractor from others is how those problems are handled.  As soon as I brought any issue, no matter how minor, to Mitch’s attention he got to work assessing the situation and seeing to it that corrective action was taken and that his personnel would learn from it.  In the end things were done right and done on time without any unreasonable additional charges (the only additional charges were for wood rot repair work we wanted done that was not in our contract).  In the past I’ve had contractors miss target dates repeatedly, downplay problems, make excuses, or blame me for their mistakes; Mitch’s approach was a refreshing change from that.

I do have to say that I found a few of the minor issues to be addressed rather than Mitch or his staff.  It’s not really fair for me to hold that against Fineline though since I was by choice very involved from start to finish and did some of the finishing work myself and didn’t give an opportunity for others to identify those minor issues before I did.  I honestly don’t believe I could find another contractor who could do a better job.

Dear Mitch,

Natalie and I would like to thank you and your team for the fantastic job you did adding the extra room to our basement, putting the sheet rock ceilings in the basement, and connecting the basement to the first floor with the new stairway.  We love the extra space and use it all the time now that it is connected by the stairway.

We tried for the past two years to figure out the best way to add a stairway to connect the basement to the first floor.  Each idea we came up with had major draw backs so we delayed doing the project.  Thanks for your creative idea to connect the former basement storage room to the main basement and add the stairway connecting it to the first floor.  The hard wood floor, hard wood stairs, white columns, and crown molding, give the stairway the same look and feel of the first floor.  The barrel ceiling also provides a unique entrance into the basement that serves as a major focal point.

Please extend our appreciation to Larry, Casey, and rest of your team for all their hard work.  We enjoyed getting to know all of your team.  They were always very professional and considerate.  I would definitely recommend your company to other customers.  You did a great job and we are very pleased.

Thanks again,

Dan & Natalie
